Aims of the SAMI on-road Mobile X-ray Service

This service aims to support residents who are clinically stable, to receive imaging in their residential care facility, benefiting the patient by reducing the need for transfers, wait times, and exposure to unfamiliar environments. This also supports SA Health’s commitment to ease pressure on emergency departments, and the South Australian Ambulance Service (SAAS), reducing the need for ambulance transfers of residential aged care clients to tertiary centres, all whilst delivering care closer to home.

Our service is staffed with a fully qualified and experienced Radiographer along with an enrolled Nurse who provide an efficient and caring imaging solution without the need for the client to leave their environment, and is based out of the Flinders Medical Centre.

Images

Images are reported on by SAMI radiologists in a timely manner via the SAMI Enterprise System for Medical Imaging (ESMI), and will be available for viewing by clinical staff involved in the delivery of care to the resident.

Platforms for viewing of images and reports include ESMI PACS, Oacis, and Medinexus.
