Kids Hubs are friendly, welcoming places where children aged 0 to 12 and their families, carers and kin can get free mental health and wellbeing support. You don’t need a diagnosis or referral to access services or support at the Kids Hub.

Who we support

Kids Hubs can help when children are:

  • feeling worried, sad or overwhelmed
  • having trouble with behaviour, emotions or friendships
  • finding changes at home or school difficult
  • needing support with development, attachment or sensory needs

We welcome all families, including Aboriginal families, families from diverse cultures, LGBTQIA+ families, and children with a disability or neurodiversity.

What we offer

  • Early support and assessment: We get to know your child and family, understand your strengths and needs, and help you decide what support feels right.
  • Therapeutic support: This may include play‑based and creative therapies, support for parents and carers, group programs, and culturally informed wellbeing support. Your child and family might work with
    • child and family therapists
    • occupational therapists
    • peer workers, who use their lived experience to support families
    • social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) workers
    • cultural liaison workers or Aboriginal health workers
    • perinatal and infant mental health workers.
  • Warm connections to other services: We help you navigate the system and link you with health, education, community, cultural and specialist services.
  • Safe, welcoming spaces: Kids Hubs offer comfortable, accessible and child‑friendly environments, with quiet areas, sensory spaces and room to play.

How to access the Kids Hub

Families can refer themselves or be referred by a General Practitioner (GP), school, health worker or community service. All services are free.

What we believe

At the Kids Hub, we:

  • listen to children and take them seriously
  • respect family, culture and identity
  • support families to be involved in all decisions
  • welcome children and families to come back whenever they need
  • make sure people don’t have to repeat their story.

What the Kids Hub doesn’t do

We are not a crisis service and do not provide emergency mental health care, specialist tertiary services (like Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service), NDIS‑funded disability services, or support for young people over 12. We will always help you find the right service.
