News on the Mount Barker Hospital

The South Australian Government has committed $320.8 million to the New Mount Barker Hospital Development, which will see a major redevelopment of the hospital.

The existing Mount Barker District Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital site has been identified as the most suitable location for the New Mount Barker Hospital following a Rapid Site Assessment report.

The new and bigger hospital and health service will triple inpatient capacity from 34 to 102 beds and increase community and allied health, outpatient and clinical support facilities. The new development will ensure that the expanding population of the Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills region can receive the health services they need closer to home, reducing the number of transfers to metropolitan hospitals.

A design team has been appointed to prepare a design in consultation with the local communities, clinicians, key partners and support networks.

The New Mount Barker Hospital Development Engagement Framework outlines how all stakeholders are engaged at the right time and in the right way during the design and delivery of the New Mount Barker Hospital and Health Service.

At the heart of the Engagement Framework is the Consumer and Community Engagement Strategy 2022-2025, which sets the platform for engagement in partnership with consumers, community members, Health Advisory Councils (HACs), and Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN) Governing Board, Executive and staff.

We welcome you to express interest in being involved in these important consultations. If you are interested, please send your contact details by email to: Health.BHFLHNServiceDevelopment@sa.gov.au.
