How infectious diseases are spread and simple and practical advice for preventing the spread of infection in the home and community
Sexual health services
There is a range of free, bulk-billed and/or low-cost sexual health services in SA. Any General Practitioner should be able to provide you with information and care relating to your sexual health; however, some people may feel more comfortable seeking sexual healthcare from specialist providers.
Some of these include:
Adelaide Sexual Health Centre
Adelaide Sexual Health Centre offers free and confidential testing, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (including HIV). Services are available by appointment only.
Health professionals can also contact the Adelaide Sexual Health Centre for expert advice on sexually transmitted infections and HIV.
SHINE SA
SHINE SA provides education and a comprehensive range of sexual and reproductive health services, STI and blood borne virus testing, contraception and counselling. Clinical and counselling services are free for all clients 30 years and under who have a Medicare card (a fee for consumables may apply).

SAMESH
SAMESH - SA Mobilisation and Empowerment for Sexual Health (a joint program of SHINE SA and Thorne Harbour Health (Victoria)) provides support, education and training about sexual health and HIV for men who have sex with men and people living with HIV, as well as services for the broader LGBTIQ community.
RAPIDO! Rapid HIV Testing Service
RAPIDO is a joint program of SHINE SA and SAMESH. It offers a free, less confronting testing experience for gay men, men who have sex with men (MSM), and trans and gender diverse people. The service is a peer-led model meaning the people doing the rapid testing also identify as gay, bi or trans as well.
