Staying Active: Strength for Life
It is important for everyone to take steps at all times to keep active to help improve their health and wellbeing. This is especially true for older adults to ensure they remain healthy and fit, to prevent falls and maintain their independence.
SA Health has had a long and successful partnership with COTA SA (Council on the Ageing) in supporting the delivery of the Strength for Life program across South Australia.
Currently all Strength for Life classes are suspended due to the COVID-19 restrictions however a suite of videos have been produced so you can continue to be active and maintain your strength, balance and fitness at home.

Disclaimer
These exercise videos have been developed to assist Strength for Life (SFL) participants to maintain their strength and balance whilst their usual SFL sessions are suspended. SFL participants will have been screened, assessed and given their own program and the videos demonstrate some of the most common exercises that would have been recommended for many of these people.
People who have not been part of a SFL program start these exercises at their own risk.
The qualified instructors in the videos have taken every precaution to offer a safe exercise regime, but not all exercises are appropriate for all people. Do not try these exercises if you feel you are not safe or capable to do so. Ensure that you listen carefully to the prompts about technique, and watch as the instructors demonstrate each exercise. You will be able to stop the video to ensure that you have fully understood the directions and to perform your repetitions of each exercise.
People participate in this program at their own risk. Wellbeing SA, SA Health and COTA SA accept no responsibility or liability for any injury sustained by participants performing these exercises.
