Project overview

Coonalpyn no longer has a local supermarket and this project aims to increase the availability of fresh and healthy food by coordinating a weekly delivery service of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat through partnerships with local food suppliers.

The project will reduce the barriers residents of Coonalpyn face to access healthy food, especially for the elderly and those without transport options. The Coonalpyn Fresh Food Project will align with the Coorong Healthy Highways program, which locals already engage with and will provide an additional opportunity for the promotion, advocacy and access to fresh food.

This will be a pilot project with plans to introduce it to other rural communities across the Coorong district.
