SA Health Capability Sets for Rural Registered Nurses
Nurses working in the rural and remote areas of South Australia provide a vital and unique contribution to patient outcomes. They care for their communities and treat patients with diverse and complicated conditions providing timely, quality and tailored health services.
Registered Nurses working in rural and remote health context do so with a more generalist scope of practice, providing care across the lifespan and health continuum, possessing the ability to adapt quickly to working in different areas and locations. They work to their full scope of practice in many different clinical settings.
The SA Health Capability Sets for Rural Registered Nurses (PDF 1.5MB) have been developed to assist those new to rural and remote practice or those wanting to evolve their capabilities across a variety of practice settings. They provide a navigation tool for rural nursing practice, enabling Registered Nurses to map their professional path in conjunction with their mentors, manager and educators as part of the Performance, Review and Development framework.
