Accident and emergency services

A 24-hour service is provided.

When you arrive at the accident and emergency, you will be seen by the duty nurse and triaged to collect information and assess your illness or injury.

Doctors are not always in the hospital but will be called by nursing staff as required.

In a medical emergency, it is important that you do not 'self present' to hospital. SA Ambulance Service emergency medical dispatch support officers can provide advanced first-aid advice over the phone while an ambulance is on its way to you.

The on call doctors are private general practitioners and at some hospitals the doctors require payment of a gap fee.  Please bring your Medicare card and concession cards when accessing emergency departments. This fee is only applicable if admission into hospital is not required.

Your attendance may incur a fee

This Hospital is supported by Private Practice Doctors. All patients treated by a Doctor in the Outpatient or Emergency Department (all non-admitted patients) will be treated as Private General Practice Patients and therefore may be charged.

The account will come direct from Yorketown Medical Practice. Please contact the medical practice for more information.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours are generally between 10.00 am to 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm. You can contact the hospital to arrange to visit outside these hours.

Car parking

Parking is available onsite.

Disabled access

The building is wheelchair accessible and there are toilets for people with disability. Please ask at Reception.

Yorke Peninsula Service Plan

The Yorke Peninsula Service Plan (PDF 677KB) was finalised and released to the community in January 2020. The Service Plan reflects the overarching future plan for the provision of health services in the central and lower Yorke Peninsula region. This plan was developed in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including clinicians, nurses, the Yorke Peninsula Health Advisory Council, allied health staff, local Indigenous Australians and the public. We encourage the community to read the plan to inform themselves about the recent patterns of service delivery and the future health needs of the community.
