Whole community of Kadina, Wallaroo, Moonta, Paskeville and surrounding districts.
External partner and their role:
SOS Copper Coast Suicide Prevention Network: will assist with site preparation and community promotion to enhance and foster community engagement, promoting health and wellbeing in the prevention and postvention of suicide. It will also support the ongoing maintenance of the project in developing learning and health and wellbeing opportunities for all children and young people and their families, including those considered vulnerable and at risk.
The project will build a community garden/peace park adjacent to the school providing a natural environment to grow fresh produce and native bush tucker. The site will host regular community garden activities and as an outdoor meeting place to promote mental health and wellbeing in the community. Along with this will be the construction of hard and wide paths for people with prams, wheelchairs, walking frames and people with physical disabilities to ensure an easy access for all members in the community.
It aims to establish whole-of-school agreement to incorporate lesson plans and incidental learnings for students with a focus on developing technical skills, including health and nutrition. An initiative on student-led learning with sensory component will also be organised with Disability Unit.
