Infection control and PPE
Infection Control and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Advice for professionals.
The COVID-19 Health System Response Strategy has been informed by the latest evidence, national and international experience and existing SA Health COVID-19 models of care that predict 95% of COVID-19 cases can be safely managed through home-based care or supervised facility-based care led by SA Health outside of the hospital setting. The system-wide response pathway outlines how and where patients will receive care. It is focused on providing the right care, in the right location, at the right time.
The COVID-19 Primary Care Response Strategy focuses on the models of care and pathways involving the primary health care sector that will support an immediate response to manage the expected cases of COVID-19 in our community, as part of South Australia’s broader COVID-19 health system response strategy. Further work is continuing to occur with the Primary Health Networks regarding PPE supply, GP Ready Respiratory Clinics and updating HealthPathways.
SA Health has developed a series of exposure matrices to guide assessing and managing risk of COVID exposure. Risk assessment guidance is available for primary and community-based healthcare settings on the Test, Trace, Isolate and Quarantine page.
