Firearm notifications - Mandatory reporting by health professionals
What and how medical practitioners need to notify unsafe situations with firearms and wounds inflicted by firearms
Under the SA Public Health Act, 2011, medical practitioners and diagnostic laboratories are required to notify SA Health of cases suspected of having or diagnosed with notifiable diseases.
SA Health also recommends and encourages clinicians to notify certain medical cases to assist with the effective monitoring, investigation, control and reporting of the occurrence of diseases in the South Australian community.
