National Antimicrobial Utilisation Surveillance Program (NAUSP) team
The NAUSP team includes pharmacists and project officers with a range of expertise in antimicrobial surveillance, epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship and public health.
Program Manager

The NAUSP Manager is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and management of the National Antimicrobial Utilisation Surveillance Program (NAUSP):
- Coordinating and supervising input into the antimicrobial surveillance program including processes for detailed analysis and reporting of antimicrobial surveillance data
- Producing regular reports of antimicrobial usage at state and national level
- Collaborating with other stakeholders at a state and national level to increase and optimise surveillance to support antimicrobial stewardship in Australia.
Antimicrobial Surveillance Officers

Our Antimicrobial Surveillance Officers/Pharmacists liaise with data contributors, conducting quality assurance on data submission, data analysis and production of surveillance reports associated with these programs. Our Antimicrobial Surveillance Officers/Pharmacists also contribute to the improvement in antimicrobial use in South Australian hospitals by supporting the initiatives of the South Australian expert Advisory Group on Antimicrobial Resistance.
A number of pilot projects are currently being led by our antimicrobial surveillance pharmacists, including investigating the feasibility of surveillance in the prison sector, aged care sector and in the outpatient sector.
Program Support Officer

The Project Support Officer for Antimicrobial Programs is responsible for administrative and project support for NAUSP, including provision of help-desk functions for the web-based application, data quality checking, records management and report generation of program-related information as well as management of the website content. Administrative support is also provided for the South Australian expert Advisory Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (SAAGAR). The Project Support Officer coordinates the Antimicrobial Awareness Week activities for SA Health.
