The report is part of SA Health’s commitment to guiding a new direction for older person’s mental health in South Australia.

The ongoing collaboration and support of people with lived experience of dementia with clinicians, project staff and other expert groups has been instrumental in the progress achieved to date.

A report outlining the collaborative design process for the neuro-behavioural unit planned for the Repat Health Precinct has been released.

The Engaging people with lived experience in the design of the Neurobehavioural Unit at the Repat Health Precinct final report (PDF 6.4MB) will help inform future design and provides an invaluable insight into how we can support people living with dementia to live their best life.

The Implementation Plan (released in December 2018) supported the next steps in progressing the recommendations of the Expert Working Groups from the Oakden Oversight Committee and ensuring visibility and transparency to all interested parties.

It was designed to support the development of a whole service, a high quality, person-centred service that provides specialist care for older people with dementia or enduring mental illness.

SA Health acknowledges the hard work and dedication of all members of the Oakden Oversight Committee. The Committee developed a comprehensive suite of recommendations and frameworks to support the progression of work in response to the Chief Psychiatrist’s recommendations.

SA Health is committed to ensuring a new direction for specialist OPMHS in South Australia and putting into practice the valuable work of the Committee, its working groups and the many families, carers and others who have contributed to the process to date.
