Treatment options
We offer assessment and tailored treatment programs to suit individual needs, working with other treatment providers.
We know it is hard to find eating disorder care for yourself or someone you care for. If you are a person with an eating disorder, it is frightening to think about recovery. If you are a carer or family member, you may need to push and persist to get care for a person you think has an eating disorder. If you are a health professional, you need to act early, and not watch and wait if you suspect an eating disorder.
The Statewide Eating Disorder Service (SEDS) is here to help.
SEDS is a specialised mental health service for all South Australians. We provide assessment, care and information for people living with an eating disorder, or where an eating disorder may be developing. We can help professionals, family and carers looking after people with an eating disorder. We provide quality assured evidence based care, education, training, professional liaison and carer support.
The SEDS Inpatient Program is located at Ward 4GP, Flinders Medical Centre. The SEDS Day Patient Program and Outpatient Clinical Team is located in Brighton.
Our focus is caring for people with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and other specified feeding or eating disorders.
Members of the multidisciplinary team use their expertise and experience to formulate a careful diagnosis. Treatment recommendations and plans of care are then tailored to the individual's needs.
All treatments recommended and used at SEDS have been widely researched and demonstrated to be effective.
SEDS has a skilled multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, dieticians, occupational therapists, social workers, and specialist mental health nurses.
