Brownie's Bus Service at Repat Health Precinct
The Repat Health Precinct has a new courtesy bus service. The service, operated by VollieCare, will provide a quick and flexible means of transporting consumers, their families, and visitors across the Precinct.
'Brownie’s Bus' was introduced to help people get around the Repat, particularly older consumers who often struggle with mobility issues. It will also travel to areas on the site that are not accessible by private vehicle such as the Town Square, ensuring consumers and carers can attend appointments in comfort and style.
The bus can accommodate up to three passengers, or one passenger requiring a wheelchair. It has been named in memory of treasured WWII Veteran and Repat supporter, Les Brown.
Les had long ties with the Repat, having spent time as a patient at the former Repat Hospital in the 1960s and had been attending ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day Services for the past 73 years where he had recited the Ode very proudly on many occasions. Les passed away peacefully in 2022, aged 100 years.
Brownie's Bus service will initially be available on Fridays, 10am to 3pm. VollieCare hopes to expand the service very soon. To book the service, please call 0497 834 773.
If you would like to volunteer to drive ‘Brownies Bus’, please go to the Seek Volunteers website.
