This course has been developed by immunisation and education experts from the Communicable Disease Control Branch (CDCB), Department for Health and Wellbeing, South Australia, WA Health and the Education and Training Department of the Women and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia.

Health professionals who successfully complete and meet all course requirements will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
COVID-19 Immunisation Education Program has been allocated 4 CPD hours.
On completion of the course all learners will be able to print a Certificate of Completion that can be used to assist with claiming Continuing Professional Development.
To register, you must provide your full name, email address, a password and state or territory of residence. If provided, your AHPRA number will be recorded on your Certificate of Completion.
The course requires access to the internet and a current browser. It is recommended to use the most recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge or Internet Explorer 10 and above. The course can be accessed via desktop, laptop or mobile devices.
The program must be completed within a period of 8 weeks from the date of purchase.
Assessment questions are throughout the program, a score of 80% must be achieved in order to progress to the final exam.
The final exam consists of 10 multi choice questions, a score of 90% must be achieved within two attempts in order to successfully complete the course.
A clinical assessment is not required to successfully complete this program.
Depending on skills and experience, many registered nurses and other health practitioners may already have the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities that underpin clinical performance applicable to providing an immunisation service.
Those new to immunisation and those who feel they require further development of clinical competency are strongly encouraged to arrange clinical supervision from an experienced immuniser and this should be followed by a clinical competency assessment. From 1 October 2023, the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care no longer produce the COVID-19 Vaccine Training Modules and the COVID-19 learning platform is closed.
SA Health produced and published a COVID-19 Immunisation Education Program as a replacement and from the 1 October 2023, any new health practitioner to the COVID-19 vaccination program must complete this program as an approved program of study if they are administering COVID-19 vaccines under the authority of the Vaccine Administration Code.
There is a growing need for health professionals providing immunisation services to have ready access to comprehensive and affordable education to maintain the level of knowledge, skill and professionalism required to deliver a safe immunisation service.
Any health professional involved in the discussion or delivery of COVID-19 vaccination programs is highly recommended to undertake this course to ensure they are working within their scope of practice. It is a requirement to complete a COVID specific training course if working under the authority of the Vaccine Administration Code.
