All SA Health policies that are overdue for review remain in force and continue to be applicable until they are rescinded or updated, irrespective of their scheduled review date.

Scope

The Research Domain encompasses the areas of research governance and ethics which support the conduct of research across SA Health.

Purpose

The purpose of this Domain is to:

  • Ensure there is a consistent system-wide approach to research activity across SA Health.
  • Ensure there is awareness of the requirements and processes in place for research activity across SA Health.
  • Ensure research conducted within SA Health by staff or external researchers is of a high standard and observes all governance and ethical requirements.
  • Ensure research conducted within SA Health complies with agreed best practice research standards, and relevant legislative, policy and operational requirements.

Principles

  • We apply a consistent system-wide approach to research activity across SA Health.
  • We are committed to supporting the conduct of high quality health and medical research across SA Health.
  • We focus our investment on research that informs the development of SA Health programs and policy, and contributes to maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of South Australians.
  • We adhere to all governance and ethical requirements relating to any research conducted within SA Health.
  • We align our research activities with agreed best practice research standards and relevant legislative, policy and operational requirements.
