Waikerie Health Service provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to obstetrics, outpatients and aged care beds.

Patients may commence their stay at Waikerie Health Service but finish their care at one of the neighbouring hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required. All hospitals in the area work collaboratively to support the patient care needs of the region.

Birthing services at Waikerie Health Service are temporarily suspended due to unexpected staff shortages. Always call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

Accident and emergency services

When you arrive at the Waikerie Health Service accident and emergency service, you will be seen by a nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury prior to seeing a doctor.

The accident and emergency department are an extension of the Waikerie Medical Centre and services provided by private GP’s. Charges apply as charged by the doctor. You will need to discuss the charges directly with the doctor at the time.

Mental health emergencies

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency you can present to the accident and emergency service at Waikerie Health Service. Charges apply as charged by the doctor. You will need to discuss the charges directly with the doctor at the time.

Alternatively, contact Rural and Remote Mental Health Service on 13 14 65 for mental health counselling, support and information 24 hours, 7 days.

Car parking

Parking is available on site entering from Lawrie Terrace at the front of the hospital. There is also disabled parking available.
