Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service is part of the Limestone Coast Local Health Network and provides acute and specialist health inpatient services across a broad range of specialities.

Emergency Department

At Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service (MGDHS), our Emergency Department (ED) provides high-quality, compassionate emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether you're facing a serious illness, injury, or need urgent medical attention, our experienced team is here to help—any time, day or night.

For non-life-threatening conditions, please consider visiting your GP or local urgent care centre. You can use the Health Direct Online Service Finder.

Information for Visitors

Family are welcome and visitors play an important part in any patient’s stay. If you are  planning on visiting:

• Our friendly team can assist with advising the best time.
• Patient and staff safety is paramount. If you are unwell, please reconsider waiting until you are feeling better. Alternatively, please consider wearing a mask.
• Hand hygiene is important in ensuring we limit the spread of diseases.

Car Parking

Parking is available at the front and side of the hospital. Additional spaces are available on Allison Street with a pathway leading to the buildings.

Disabled access

The building is wheelchair accessible and there are toilets for people with disability. Please ask at Reception.

Public Wi-Fi

We work with a number of specialists who provide surgical and medical services at Mount Gambier and District Health Service (MGDHS), including resident and visiting specialists. Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service – Service Plan (2022-2027)

The Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service - Service Plan (2022-2027) reflects the overarching future plan for health service provision for the Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service for the next five years.

The Service Plan identifies a range of service initiatives which will support the provision of safe, quality services closer to home. Specific service priority areas identified within the plan include increasing specialisation, expanding access to allied health and community services, enhancing emergency and mental health care, cultivating excellence in paediatric care, strengthening care of older persons, and improving continuity of maternity services.

SA Health's electronic medical record - Sunrise EMR & PAS

The electronic medical record (EMR) used in South Australia is called Sunrise EMR & PAS. It is a state-based electronic medical record that replaces the need for paper-based documentation and provides a consistent and complete electronic medical record for patients across SA Health hospitals and health services where it has been activated.
