BreastScreen SA
BreastScreen SA is South Australia’s dedicated breast cancer screening program, providing free screening mammograms (breast X-rays) every 2 years to women aged over 40. Our state-wide service screens around 100,000 women each year, aiming to detect breast cancer at an early stage, often before it can be felt.
As a dedicated breast cancer screening service, BreastScreen SA’s highly specialised team of breast-specialist radiologists, radiographers, medical professionals and administration experts are committed to delivering a warm, welcoming, caring service that is tailored to our clients and their needs. Each screening mammogram is independently read by at least 2 radiologists, meaning women receive the highest standard of care possible when screening with us.
BreastScreen SA has a single, centrally-located State Coordination Unit (SCU) in Adelaide. There are 7 fixed screening clinics in metropolitan Adelaide, and 3 mobile screening units that visit more than 36 rural and outer metropolitan locations every 2 years.
