SA Healthy Towns Challenge Grant Winners 2021/2022
Eighteen applications were received in Round 4 of the SA Healthy Towns Challenge. Congratulations to the five successful recipients and a big thank you to all the eighteen applicants.
- Aboriginal-led Bush Foods Garden
The Gabmididi Manoo Children and Family Centre will establish an Aboriginal community-led bush foods garden In Whyalla to facilitate cultural activities, health and wellbeing of young people and families.
- Eyre Peninsula Youth Expo: 2021 The Resilience Effect
The District Council of Tumby Bay will hold an Eyre Peninsula Youth Expo 2021to help build a resilient and connected community of youth in the area. The Resilience Effect will be a two-day event including presentations, workshops and activities for Year 10, 11 and 12 Eyre Peninsula students, and their families, carers and educators.
- Steps to Better Health – Barossa
Barossa Council will establish a social determinants of health based online social prescribing tool that links local people to community-based services via the Barossa Cares website to support their health outcomes.
- Foodbank Food Hub - Ceduna
Foodbank SA will develop a Food Hub in Ceduna to increase access to healthy food options through a food relief distribution to those experiencing food insecurity.
- Healthy Pathways – a Cycling and Walking Program
District Council of Elliston will install a pump track along the coastal trail to help increase community access to a healthy recreational physical activity, focusing on cycling and walking for all ages.
