About Southern Adelaide Local Health Network

The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) comprises Flinders Medical Centre (FMC), Noarlunga Hospital (NH), the Repat Health Precinct, GP Plus Health Care Centres and Super Clinics and sub-acute and mental health services – providing health care from birth to end of life. SALHN provides care for around 350,000 people living in the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide as well as providing several state-wide services, and services to those in regional areas. The SALHN culture is inclusive and nurtures progressive attitudes and staff excellence.

Program information


  • Rotation structure (2 rotations).
  • Program and Clinical Orientation.
  • Advanced Nurse Educator and Program coordinator.
  • Dedicated team of ANUM’s and Clinical Support nurses.
  • Training for the patient electronic medical record system.
  • Supernumerary days.
  • Experiential learning days.
  • Online learning education and face to face classroom days.
  • Structured professional development program.
  • Networking and debriefing opportunities.
  • Part time employment 0.84 FTE (8 days per fortnight) with ample opportunities to pick up extra shifts. Please note that you will not be able to work less than 0.84 full time equivalent (FTE) with a SALHN TPPP. Theatre rotations at FMC will require you to work full time.
  • Career progression – Clinical Speciality Programs (Operating Theatre Suites & Mental Health 12-month program).
  • Pre-scheduled annual leave.
  • Hours of duty follow a 4-week roster over 7 days and includes weekends, morning, afternoon, and night shifts – no exceptions.

  • Acute and Sub-acute Mental Health (Margaret Tobin Centre, Jamie Larcombe Centre, Morier)
  • Geriatric Evaluation and Management
  • Primary Care services such as drug and alcohol inpatient withdrawal services (DASSA) and Outpatients
  • Medical and Surgical specialities (renal, endocrine, vascular, orthopaedics, oncology etc)
  • Cancer Services acute and sub-acute

Please note due to the limited number of specialty placements only one specialty rotation per participant may be available.
