About Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network

The Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN) consists of five hospitals and health services throughout the Flinders Ranges, Far North of the state and the Eyre Peninsula. These hospitals provide a range of health services to the local communities. Our hospitals are supported by a variety of community and allied health services delivered by Country Health Connect. The FUNLHN services a catchment population of approximately 64,000 people spanning 34,000 square kilometres. We pride ourselves on the delivery of the highest quality of culturally safe health care to our regional consumers.

Program information

The FUNLHN TPPP includes:

  • rotation structure (3 x 4-month rotations, including a possibility for a speciality and a remote area rotation)
  • comprehensive orientation delivered over four days
  • supernumerary days to assist you to transition to practice
  • structured professional development program (TPPP education framework)
  • specialised clinical mentors and educators working alongside you on the floor
  • preceptorship and peer support
  • networking and debriefing opportunities
  • full-time/part-time opportunities available
  • career progression – fully funded clinical speciality programs
  • annual leave.

Spread across the majestic Flinders Ranges, Upper Spencer Gulf and South Australian outback our health services are located in some of the most picturesque locations in Australia. You will have the opportunity to explore some of the most popular tourist destinations in South Australia.

Port Augusta and Whyalla are major regional service centres boasting great shopping, restaurants and all major amenities.

During your TPPP you will have experienced and expert nurses supporting you professionally to develop and consolidate your skills, our clinical experts/education team take a personalised approach, ensuring that your education plan is tailored to your individual needs and career goals. 

FUNLHN offer great opportunities to advance your nursing career in high dependency, renal dialysis, paediatrics, midwifery, theatre, emergency and general/surgical nursing. You will have access to clinical rotations in these speciality areas and the opportunity to undertake fully funded post graduate studies in the areas of your choice.

FUNLHN will provide six months of assisted accommodation which includes three months free and a further three months at a reduced rental fee. You will also have the chance to experience nursing in a rural remote hospital and a larger regional health service.
