Podiatry at NALHN

NALHN Podiatry service aims to promote foot health for patients by providing assessments and management of foot and ankle conditions and prevention of avoidable amputations related to diabetes and other chronic conditions.

Services are provided to hospital patients and outpatients who require podiatry services that are not available in the community.

Eligibility

Services are available for people classified as ‘high risk’ that require a complex level of care, for example people with:

  • peripheral arterial disease
  • diabetes
  • chronic renal disease
  • peripheral neuropathy
  • high risk structural deformities of the foot and ankle
  • history of high risk foot episode or presence of high risk foot factors.

Services

Services include:

  • medical and surgical management of adults with high risk foot and lower limb conditions, including foot ulcerations and Charcot foot
  • assessment and treatment for adults with foot deformity/biomechanical concerns leading to pain/impacting function
  • assessment and management for infants/children with congenital foot deformity, developmental concerns/gait abnormalities effecting function and persistent pain.
