Visiting Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement

The SA Health Visiting Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement 2019 (VMS Enterprise Agreement) came into force on 10 May 2019 and nominally expired on 30 June 2021.

All Visiting Medical Specialists who are employed in the SA public sector are covered by the VMS Enterprise Agreement. A Visiting Medical is a specialist who is appointed by the Employing Authority as a Visiting Medical Specialist or a Senior Visiting Medical Specialist.

Negotiations for a new VMS Enterprise Agreement are currently underway. The Enterprise Agreement is negotiated between the SA Government and the South Australian Salaried Medical Officers Association (SASMOA).

Process for negotiations

The Industrial Relations and Policy Branch of the Attorney General’s Department commenced negotiations for a new VMS Enterprise Agreement in September 2022.

The Industrial Relations and Policy Branch act on behalf of the Declared Employer (Chief Executive, Attorney General’s Department) and lead negotiations for all enterprise agreements across the South Australian public sector.

The Department for Health and Wellbeing support the Industrial Relations and Policy Branch during the negotiations.

A copy of the notice of intent to commence bargaining (PDF 613KB) is available for staff.

Constructive discussions are continuing regarding SASMOA’s claims for inclusion into the new agreement being:

Salary adjustment – payment of an annual 3% per annum increase commencing on 1 Jan 2022, 1 Jan 2023 and 1 Jan 2024
Two one-off payments of $1,500 payable on 1 October 2022 and 1 October 2023. Payment will not count for any other purpose.
Increases to allowances to be the same quantum as salary increases.
Increases to managerial allowances to be the same increases as the salary increases.
Payment of sick and annual leave provisions including an additional clause specifically for paid Covid (however so named) leave
Car parking charge be equivalent to a maximum of $2.50 per day.
Insertion of the definition of telemedicine.
