Global Status Report on Health in All Policies

The first Global Status Report on Health in All Policies (PDF 7MB) presents a picture of Health in All Policies (HiAP) approaches and the diversity of HiAP practice, based on survey responses from 41 jurisdictions across the world.

The Report provides an account of HiAP models, and identifies key challenges and lessons learned in   HiAP action. It provides an analysis of HiAP in operation at different levels of government and different phases of practice maturity.

It is anticipated that this Report will contribute to improved understandings of HiAP among policy-makers and partners and that it will inform capacity building activities (including training and courses) to strengthen and sustain global HiAP practice.

HiAP is recognised as an essential tool to facilitate improved multi-stakeholder action to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. HiAP provides a mechanism to improve population health and wellbeing, whilst also advancing the goals of all sectors through shared responsibility.

The Global Status Report on Health in All Policies Summary (PDF 11MB) provides a snap shot of the Global Status Report, including context, conceptual framework and key findings.

The Report and Summary are aimed at the international health community and the broader sustainable development network. Whilst HiAP is a mutual agenda for all sectors, it is usually the role of the health sector to help initiate and facilitate HiAP and provide a foundation to support its implementation. The documents will be of interest to those who want to know more about implementing HiAP.

Global Network for Health in All Policies

The Report and Summary were prepared on behalf of, and in collaboration with, the Global Network for Health in All Policies (GNHiAP). The GNHiAP is a network of government entities (national, regional, local) and other institutions (united national, inter-government and non-government organisations, academia) committed to working collaboratively to strengthen HiAP practice internationally, with the aim to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage. More information on the GNHiAP can be found at Global Network for Health in All Policies.
